How important is the Coral Reef to the Bahamas?

Born and raised in the Bahamas our number one industry is tourism, so in order for the country as whole to make money we need people to come in a spend. One of our big attractions are the coral reefs. Tourist would pay to just scuba dive and see the beautiful coral reefs but recently there has been a fall in the production and care of the coral reefs. Coral reefs are the most diverse of all marine ecosystems. They teem with life, with perhaps one quarter of all ocean species depending on reefs for food and shelter. My personal experience started with the helping the coral reefs by sinking the ships to start new reefs for fishes to live also try to limit boats in those areas because when tide is low the propellers can damage the reefs as well but the biggest factor was educating people on the importance of the reefs in our little country.
